Change of Ownership with Existing Plate number

When you sell you vehicle, the plate number is yours forever.

You are expected to remove your plate number and keep the original papers while you handover photocpies of the papers to the new buyer. He need the copies to process change of ownership.

This means if you sell your old vehicle and removed the plate number on it, you can use the number again on another (newly purchased Nigerian used) vehicle

Requirement for Change of Ownership with Existing Plate number (Using your old/Exiting plate number)

Proof of ownership of the newly purchased Nigerian used vehicle(Photocopy)
Allocation of plate number of the newly purchased Nigerian used vehicle(Photocopy)
Signed agreement of purchased of the newly purchased Nigerian used vehicle(Photocopy)

Also:

Original Proof of ownership of your old vehicle (the plate to be used)
Allocation of plate number of your old vehicle (the plate to be used)
Vehicle License of your old vehicle (the plate to be used)
1 Passport photograph and

Means of ID card
