When you sell you vehicle, the plate number is yours forever.

You are expected to remove your plate number and keep the original papers while you handover photocpy of the papers to the new buyer. He need the copies to process change of ownership.

This means if you sell your old vehicle and removed the plate number on it, you can use the number again on another (newly purchased brand new/Tokunbo) vehicle

Requirement for New Registration with Existing Plate number (Using your old/Exiting plate number)

  • Custom clearing papers in teh case of a tokunbo vehicle(Photocopy)

  • Receipt of purchase in teh case of a brand new vehicle(Photocopy)

Also:

  • Original Proof of ownership of your Plate number(the plate to be used)

  • Allocation of plate number of your plate number (the plate to be used)

  • Vehicle License of your old vehicle (the plate to be used)

  • 1 Passport photograph and
  • Means of ID card
